SOLIDER OF THE CROSS

ARE YOU A SOLDIER OF THE CROSS?

Funny how we have so many pacifists today that blanket themselves with those warrior scriptures and have never seen the enemy face to face on the battle field, save their keyboard.

We find many verses just in the New Testament where a military metaphors used, for example we find words like: fellow soldier, good soldier, devout soldier, armor of God, stand firm, enemy, battle, fight, contend, weapons, sword, war and Captain.

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ”

Many ministries and Churches have a name liken to a warrior yet will run from battle. I have sat in Churches and heard the song ‘onward Christian soldiers’ and it was like finger nails on a fingernails scratching a chalkboard because they were unworthy to sing that song.

I wonder why many ministries have what is known as a ‘retreat.’ I despise that word, we should always rush and attack, marching forward and not retreat.

“Am I a soldier of the cross,

A follow’r of the Lamb?

And shall I fear to own His cause,

Or blush to speak His name?

Must I be carried to the skies

On flow’ry beds of ease,

While others fought to win the prize,

And sailed through bloody seas?

Sure I must fight if I would reign;

Increase my courage, Lord;

I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,

Supported by Thy Word.”

….This may be the new onward Christian soldiers

Backward Christian soldiers, Fleeing from the fight,

With the cross of Jesus, Nearly out of sight.

Christ our rightful master, Stands against the foe;

Onward into battle, we seem afraid to go.

Like a might tortoise, Moves the church of God.

Brothers we are treading, Where we’ve often trod.

We are much divided, Many bodies we,

Having different doctrines, but not much charity.

Crowns and thrones may perish, Kingdoms rise and wane,

But the cross of Jesus Hidden does remain.

Gates of hell should never ‘gainst the Church prevail,

We have Christ’s own promise, but we think it might fail.

Sit here then ye people, Join our sleeping throng.

Blend with ours, your voices in a feeble song.

Blessings, ease and comfort Ask from Christ the King,

But with our modern thinking, We won’t do a thing.

Chorus:

Backward Christian soldiers, Fleeing from the fight,

With the cross of Jesus, Nearly out of sight.

Maybe this video clip will move you to grab your helmet and attack behind enemy lines, charge and crash the devil’s watering hole, stand strong in bring LIGHT to darkness
